So tristan's off - went to dublin this morning and plans to be in scotland tomorrow. I am in the christian cafe and they miss him. (We had to come here for internet all last week as his freakish combination of mac hardware and debian os was TOO MUCH for the other place i normally frequent. Actually was probably the mac-ness, as Holly had a mac that could inexplicably not connect to the other place. I just wanted to point out tristan's computer setup. it looks strange.)
The christian cafe is lovely. free refills! and they don't mind that I have to plug in my computer.
I seem to have the WHOLE WEEKEND off work. Possibly the only weekend this year that i didn't really want but hey! i will enjoy myself none-the-less.
May be able to get to dublin for nisfa on tuesday; have asked for the shift off and it's quiet lately. And the train is less expensive than i realised, it's actually not even twice the price of the bus. And surely it would be at least twice as comfortable. I shall check next week!

Actually I worked out everything that was wrong. The places it didn't work that didn't need a password, it probably didn't work because I had left the wired internet configured that we used to talk between our computers, so if the gateway was 192.168.1.* then it tried to find it via the unplugged wired port.

And for the place that needed a password, I spent about fifteen minutes just now discovering that in fact I could use it, so long as I edited the right plain text file in the right way and ran the right command line program. Quite why I don't know, but meh. It works now.

Em, it's so good to read about how it was in the cafe with you and tristan. I can (almost) picture it after those msn conversations we had.

they are so friendly! if you can imagine the focolare running a cafe in a town with free wireless and lots of food, like up in (omg! i forgot the name!) except with school kids running wild between 12.30 and 2, then it's like that.
