Puppets!
Lena's in ireland! she's been in dublin for three weeks! she was in dub last weekend when i was there, dammit. okay, have another excuse to be visiting dublin this spring & summer!
woot.
This weekend I'm going to be walking and dancing -- indeed parading -- around inside a 11 or maybe 12 foot green tree fairy with orange and blue hair. And green and silver wings. The things puppets are made of are very interesting: the wings are made of gladwrap over wire and painted! the hair is strips of skirts -- complete with zips. Lots of papermache and foam and wood -- the king of the trees is VERY very heavy -- and about two million cable ties in the twelve puppets. I'll try and remember to bring my camera tomorrow or saturday.
The puppet i posted back to australia was much much smaller, and from memory made of wood? with foam wings? much classier and less "let's make 12 puppets out of this stuff we have sitting in the back of the shed!"
Going to comedy tonight. Unless i don't of course. I have a membership now for a pub in Melbourne, a promoter and a couple of pubs in Sydney, and a bar in Galway, and get emails for gigs at each of these. There's actually a lot more free gigs in Galway, even if i only recognise about two names a month. Perhaps just that the free gigs in Melb/Syd don't get advertised? not sure.
