here we go

Has anyone ever heard of a documentary, presented by Dennis Hopper, on the subject of modern art, which starts with him sitting on a couch in the desert?
And or, where should I ask?

**puts my library hat on**

I assume you have tried IMDB to get a name for it?

Was it on TV? When was it on TV? If it was, you should be able to get it from Tape Services in South Australia
http://www.tapeservices.sa.edu.au/

Are you a member of the oztl_net list? You should join it as someone working in a school library. It's a good place to go with just such a query (and is one of the main uses of the list).

If it wasn't on TV, where did the person see it?

Hope that helps :)

Hokay - from my ten seconds tooling around on google, it might be:

1. The Cool School (this is brand new so unlikely to be it.) About american art in LA in the 1950s

2. The Sketches of Frank Gehry (which is a little older and so might be it.) About Frank Gehry.

It's a bit hard because apparently Dennis Hopper is in the top 100 art collectors in the world or some such and so is in a lot of art docos.

Hope this helps.

Well, I'll give oztl_net a bit longer. Apparently it was on tv. And apparently Kathy had been drinking. IMDB didn't really help, there aren't detailed enough synopses there.
I may just find Kathy the address of Dan Murphys; I'm not entirely sure this documentary exists!

She couldn't remember whether it was a specific artist or modern art generally. I may have to kidnap her toy rabbit until she admits she's being ridiculous.

The Cool School

I've seen a description of The Cool School that says that Dennis Hopper was interviewed in a room in that one.

Another candidate might be the following documentary narrated by Dennis Hopper:

Robert Rauschenberg: Inventive Genius.
