(no subject)

Last wednesday, the internet wasn't working when I got home. Many hours of being on hold and talking to helpdesk people later, turns out Telstra told Optus to disconnect us because we were switching to Telstra.
We were considering switching, sure.
Would have been nice if, you know, Telstra connected us.
Now, we have no internet, Telstra don't know what our problem is, and Optus want to charge us $150 for breaking our contract.

TPG, here we come!

Dn't you have recourse? I mean, Optus took their direction from another telco - cold have been anyone playing a dirty trick. The important thing is, it wasn't *you* who told Optus to disconnect the service.

I'm with Internode BTW, who have on the whole been very good (with slight hiccups though nothing on the scale of Optus.)

Thirding Internode, though I've heard TPG's broadband service is a lot better than their dial-up. Which sucks.

Fuuuck Telstra and Optus. They are such huge turds to everyone! Internode are awesome for service, but more expensive. We're with iiNet, which is a step down price-wise, but the service can be hit and miss. We couldn't get our internet connection working for about 2 weeks after we moved in and they tried a couple of things and were just like "... there's nothing more we can do". It turned out our wall plug was just dirty!!! For all our dozens of phone calls no one thought to suggest that there might be a problem with the plug. We even bought a new modem! Fuckheads.

The best thing is that they email you a survey every time you call the help line to rate the service of the person you spoke to. Awesome idea! It's the best feeling rating someone badly after they've been really rude to you.

'nuther internode one here. They've recently upgraded their download quotas on the plans too. the plan I'm on has gone from 25 gig to 40 gig. Give 'em a look mebbe.
