Dear Burda:

If you instruct a pattern piece should be cut on the fold, and that pattern piece is 34 cms wide, the material you are cutting from should be MORE THAN 68 CMS WIDE.

Instructing sewers to purchase 60 cms of material will result in vexed sewers who find your amusing translations ("zipper toosties" was a good one) still leave the skirt unfinished because they will have to find more fabric.

Yours,

needs to do laundry before work tomorrow as she does not have a cute skirt to wear.

But they always look cool. They seem like they would be neat! Except they are almost impossible. And i also dislike that their sizes translate to me being size 18, where in a mccalls pattern i'm a 10. what.

I've always been several sizes up in all brands of sewing patterns. I think in Simplicity I'm about a size 20 or something (thanks to my bust), but I'm sure as hell not a size 20 in the shops.
