a conversation on the phone at work today:

me: Library, Emilly speaking
someone on the phone who didn't bother to identify herself: Hey, what's that thing buried in Switzerland? It's underground, it's big.
me: The large hadron collider?
the other person: yes! thankyou! *hangs up*

i was also asked: how to add an email signature in Outlook; how to add something to the internet*; where is nova scotia; how much does it cost to mail a dvd; and what's the other word instead of eskimo.

apparently I am the the person that knows THINGS about STUFF.

*yes. I worked out that they meant to our school's website, in which case the answer is, you can't. But you can email it to me if you would like me to add it.

In other news, I bought myself a real pair of skates. THEY GO FAST.

I think you should answer the phone by yelling 'Inuit'! Who knows. On a good day you'll maybe cover 10 or 20% of caller queries before they've said anything.

i think there was at least one (six hour) shift at the public library where i just started with "Hi. We don't have a copy of the Twilight dvd available for borrowing, but I can put a reserve on it for you." and saved at least two minutes off each transaction.
