I went to mecon, as did a bunch of other people, who all wrote about it. Am still amused by the sheer cheapness of irish cons as compared to the aussie ones i've been to. 20 pounds at the door for a three day con! weee. Had much fun, and converted the bloke who worked at the hostel, who came for sunday's session.
Ed came over to visit thursday and stayed the night. His visit was mostly unremarkable, until the morning when I made him drive myself and my new housemate holly to the hospital, because three of my group in hospital this summer obviously wasn't enough. She's fine now; it was a mixture of low blood pressure and a bad reaction to antibiotics. A bit scary at the time, as she asked me for help and wasn't in a position herself to say she wanted to go to the hospital. i feel like adults ought to know when to visit a&e. but in this case it was the right thing to do. I suppose, when you're not sure, you ought to go to hospital, because the consequences of not going to hospital are harder to deal with. Holly has insurance so it's not an awful expense. But, lord, am glad of the deal which means i get treated as an irish citizen. She's american, it's nearly 200 euro to go to casulty!
also, hurrah for having ed and his car!
Turns out holly is the birthday twin of myself and mortonhall! she is exactly two years older than me.
Am going to dublin tuesday to say hi to Cath and Russ who are, i presume, over here on a honeymoon. I feel proud cause i introduced them.
Ange and me found 40 euro in the street and spent it on beer. Good night.
Basically things is good, though obviously i am less articulate than normal. but you will cope.
