getting ready for meading day tomorrow: have to bottle as much of the good stuff as possible; and get the chocolate and the new metheglin into clean jars to age some more. Disturbingly, the new metheglin's airlock was completely dry. And as is inevitable, really, there was a dead bug in there and all.
And LJ's spellcheck thinks metheglin should be spelt mescaline.

at Parliament station i noticed today that they'd replaced the route maps on platform 2. Now they're all white backgrounds and colourful text, no station mentioned between Dandenong & Hallam, connex branding, small text, Southern Cross station and all. No, I don't like the idea of changing the name of a train station much. I ran downstairs to check that they'd not replaced the ones on platform 3, which are so mangled now they're hilarious. Must find a camera to record the mangles before they are spiffed up too.
And while down on platform 3, i worked out something that had been bothering me for a couple months. Has anyone else noticed that "Broadmeadows" is in a different font on the signs round the city loop? Definitely in Melbourne Central, and in Parliament: i'm not often in Flagstaff, and haven't had a chance to look. Anyway, broadie is in a different font cause it's a poor fix-up; all the signs were originally printed up --and one in Parliament is still up -- listing the trains on Platform 3 as "Upfield/Sydenham/Werribee/Craigieburn." Poor Williamstown, utterly ignored.
My assumption was, of course, some idiot's made a mistake, which is what you get for not hiring me to proofread your signs. Dad's first comment was: "So they're planning to electrify the line out there now?" His second comment was: "Well, they've been planning to do that for 25 years. But perhaps they mean it this time."
